Sahar Shalash, MSW LCSW
Welcome—I'm so glad you're here.
As an Arab American Muslim female therapist, I understand the importance of honoring each person's unique identity, culture, values, and life experiences. I strive to provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed care that respects your story and meets you where you are. Whether your faith and cultural background play a central role in your healing or you want a therapist who understands those perspectives, I am committed to supporting you with empathy and respect.
I work virtually with individuals and couples throughout Ohio, making therapy accessible from the comfort and privacy of your own home. My approach is collaborative and personalized because I believe there is no one-size-fits-all path to healing. Together, we will identify your goals and create a treatment plan that reflects your unique needs, strengths, and values.
I primarily utilize evidence-based approaches, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is used to identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help you build confidence, strengthen motivation, and create meaningful change.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help you recognize your strengths, develop practical solutions, and focus on your future rather than remaining stuck in the past.
As a wife and mother, I understand the complexities of balancing family, relationships, career, and personal well-being. My own experiences with anxiety, infertility, grief, and loss have given me a deep appreciation for the resilience people develop during life's most difficult seasons. While every person's journey is unique, these experiences have strengthened my ability to sit with clients in moments of pain, uncertainty, and hope with genuine compassion and understanding.
In addition to my personal experiences, I have significant professional experience working with individuals facing chronic illness, crises, and those impacted by trauma. My trauma-informed approach emphasizes safety, empowerment, collaboration, and healing while helping clients develop healthy coping skills and rediscover their resilience.
My philosophy is simple: healing happens within the context of a trusting relationship. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel genuinely seen, supported, and empowered—not judged. My role is not to tell you who to be, but to walk alongside you as you gain insight, build resilience, and create the meaningful life you want.
Reaching out for support takes courage, and I believe everyone deserves a safe, compassionate space where they feel heard, understood, and accepted. My goal is to provide a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you can openly explore life's challenges, discover your strengths, and move toward healing and personal growth.
At Sukoon Therapy Services, I hope that every client leaves therapy with greater clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of peace. After all, "Sukoon" means peace, tranquility, and comfort—and that is what I hope to help you find on your journey toward healing.
